Erasmus Mundus Scholarships
Overview
The Erasmus + Erasmus Mundus (EM) scholarships funded scholarships to support students, regardless of their country of origin and residence, to study selected Joint master programmes, including the QEM program. The EM scholarships are awarded based on merit, established by ranking applicants by the corresponding category list. The starting and ending dates of the call for application to the EM scholarships appear on this page. Selection criteria are made according to the criteria presented on the following page.
The application to an EM scholarship is made through the Online Application Form while you apply for the QEM Master Program. You need to be precise about your wish to be considered as a Scholarship Applicant in the appropriate section [Page C of the Statement of Purpose document (File [2])].
Erasmus Mundus Scholarships from 2019 to 2024
For the academic years 2019/2020 up to 2022/2023, the programme awarded full Erasmus Mundus scholarships to European and Non-European nationals. To make the program more attractive for Third-Country nationals, the amount of the full-study scholarship is higher for Partner country students than for Programme country students. More specifically:
- Erasmus+ Partner country students: students whose nationality is one of the Erasmus+ Partner Countries, i.e., non-EU countries except Turkey, FYROM, Norway, Lichtenstein, and Iceland; and who fulfil the residency & 12-month rule: who are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in a Programme Country. The five-year reference period for this 12-month rule is calculated backwards from the submission deadline.

Erasmus+ Programme country students: Students with a Partner Country nationality who do not fulfil the Partner Country criteria defined above (residency + 12-month rule), i.e., Students whose nationality is one of the 28 European counties: Erasmus+ Programme country students: Students with a Partner Country nationality who do not fulfil the Partner Country criteria defined above (residency + 12-month rule), i.e., Students whose nationality is one of the 28 European counties: Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden, United Kingdom, AND Iceland, Liechtenstein, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Norway, Turkey, and Serbia.
Additional essential criteria and information for EMJMD eligibility
- 12-month residency rule: Applicants who are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than 12 months over the last five years in a Programme Country count as Partner country students. The five-year reference period for this 12-month rule is measured backwards from the submission deadline of the Erasmus Mundus scholarships defined by the QEM consortium and indicated on the following page.

Turkey, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway entered the Erasmus+ Programme as "Programme Countries". Applicants who are nationals of these countries will be considered as Programme Country Students. This means that applicants from these countries have to apply as Programme Country Students (not as Partner Country Students) and will receive the corresponding scholarships.

Double Nationality: Students with a double nationality (of a Partner and a Programme Country) must specify the nationality under which they submit their scholarship application. This means you can freely choose the Nationality under which you want to apply.
- Full-time enrolment: The Erasmus Mundus scholarships are awarded to cover the entire duration of the Master QEM course. It is exclusively granted for a Full-time enrolment in one of the course editions.
- Applicants who have already obtained an EMJMD scholarship or are former Erasmus Mundus Master/Doctoral Course scholarship holders are not eligible for an additional scholarship under the EMJMD action.
- Students benefiting from an EMJMD scholarship cannot benefit from another EU grant while pursuing their EMJMD studies.
- No more than three students selected for the scholarship can have the same nationality.
- A candidate can only apply to a maximum of 3 different EMJMD programs

Warnings regarding our master economics scholarship :
- The contribution to the travel costs considers the scholarship holder's residence (not the nationality!).
- Contribution to subsistence costs will not be given to the scholarship holders for periods (study/research/placement/thesis preparation) spent in their country of residence. In the case of the QEM programme, residents from Spain, Germany, France, and Italy will get no contribution to their subsistence costs during the semester(s) that they are spending in their home country.
Erasmus Mundus Scholarships from 2024 to 2029
If successfully selected for the Erasmus+ Erasmus Mundus Joint Master programme grant, the QEM will award Erasmus Mundus scholarships for four will have four editions (the first in 2024-2025 and the last in 2027-2028) for European and Non-European nationals. The student holding an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship from these editions will receive a grant of 1400 EUR per month for the entire duration of the QEM programme (24 months maximum). Students who previously obtained an Erasmus Mundus scholarship are not eligible to apply for an additional one.

QEM internal outreach scholarships
The following funding sources are open to self-paying applicants and already enrolled QEM students. They are offered or awarded by the QEM Consortium and its partner universities:

Consortium scholarship: Admitted students can apply for the QEM scholarship. It covers part of the participation costs (QEM tuition fees). The Consortium scholarship application can be made after confirming your participation in the programme, and after (or before) the participation costs payments by emailing <qemapp@univ-paris1.fr> expressing your motivation for the application. The deadline for application is a month before the starting date of each academic year.

QEM excellence scholarship: The QEM excellence scholarship is a mobility scholarship awarded based on academic excellence. The amount of the QEM excellence scholarship awarded depends on the available budget. All QEM students are eligible to apply except those with an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship or relying on the conditions of non-accumulation of other scholarships and grants or students with an apprenticeship contract or professionalization contract valid during the academic year of registration in the EMJMD QEM. Erasmus+ scholarship: Admitted students can obtain an Erasmus + grant for the mobility of one or two semesters in one of the QEM partner universities. Granted by the European Union, The amount of the Erasmus+ grant depends on the type of mobility (study stay or internship) and the country you are going to. The amount is generally between €150 and €500 per month, depending on the mobility. Ask the international relations department of your establishment to find out the amount of the allowance that will be paid to you during your stay.
The Erasmus+ mobility grant can be combined with the grant based on social criteria, supplement "inclusion" of a certain amount if you meet a list of criteria (In France, for instance, be in a situation of disability or long-term illness or be a grant holder based on social criteria), as well as with the Aid of international mobility.

Other funding (loans)
Erasmus+ Master’s degree loan: Erasmus+ Master Degree Loans are EU-guaranteed loans with favourable repayment conditions that can help you fund your studies in a nation participating in the Erasmus+ Programme. Students can borrow up to €18,000 with an Erasmus+ Master's degree loan to study in one of five QEM partner Universities. To be eligible, you must be a national of one of the 33 European countries fully participating in the Erasmus+ project. It would be best if you pursued your Master's degree in a nation other than your home country or the country where you completed your Bachelor's degree. Financial intermediaries such as banks and social investment funds can provide this funding. Australian Government loan: The Australian Government Loan Program, known as OS-HELP, allows eligible Australian university students to borrow funds to finance their study abroad experience. For eligibility for an OS-HELP see the website link below: The loan is also available under some condition for non-Australian national resident in Australia under some conditions. The loan is designed to be applied towards the student's HECS debt, with standard conditions governing its allocation. The French Foreign Ministry programs - Mobility to Université Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne (France): The French Foreign Ministry awards many different scholarships to foreign students. The French Government directly funds 25% of these scholarships under the Eiffel program. The rest is given by France's embassies abroad. - Eiffel Scholarship Program - Mobility to Université Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne (France): The Eiffel Scholarship Program offers scholarships to outstanding international students to pursue a master's in France. The scholarship covers tuition fees, a monthly allowance, and other benefits. The application deadline is typically in January each year. - The Francophonie University Agency (AUF) scholarship program for French-speaking countries [https://www.auf.org/ressources-et-services/bourses/]: the AUF supports university mobility for students who want to pursue master study in France and Belgium (among other French-speaking countries members of AUF). It allocates annual allowances allowing beneficiaries to pursue part of their training and research in other universities in the North and South.

The Fondation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris (FSMP) offers students Master's scholarships of 1 or 2 years. The first call is from November year (N-1) to the beginning of February of year N to join in academic year N/N+1 for students studying outside France. The second call is from March N to the beginning of May year N only for students enrolled in a bachelor's or a 1st year of a master's in mathematics or theoretical computer science in the FSMP network. An applicant currently studying in France but out of the FSMP network may apply in exceptional cases if the Master's speciality he/she is looking for exists in Paris but is not available in his/her current university. Many French Embassies provide support by co-funding the Masters' scholarships programme of FSMP. FSDIE financial aid: the Fonds de solidarité et de développement des initiatives étudiantes (FSDIE) is a resource that can help you with social assistance. Unlike the CROUS, the FSDIE operates independently from the University of Paris Pantheon-Sorbonne and can provide financial support through social assistance.

Master’s excellence grants program is a master scholarship program made under the Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) project. Approximately 50 scholarships are allocated annually. The scholarship program is managed by Campus France. Interested students are invited to apply online at "how to apply for the Make Our Planet Great Again programs" on the Campus France website. Students from Australian institutions may apply for support for one or two years of study toward a master’s degree in France by including in their application a letter of admission to a master’s program (first or second year) at a French institution of higher education. Three broad research themes are prioritized: earth systems, climate change and sustainability, and the energy transition.
